W. L. GORE & ASSOCIATES TO PRESENT NEW MOSA PAPER AT GVSETS CONFERENCE

NEWARK, DEL. (August 11, 2023) — W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) will present a new Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) technical paper at the Ground Vehicle Systems Engineering & Technology Symposium & Modernization Update (GVSETS) on Tuesday, August 15, in Novi, Mich. 

The new technical paper, written by Gore subject matter experts, discusses MOSA and how it’s being implemented to transform the way future military equipment is designed, developed, integrated and sustained. 

At GVSETS this week, Gore experts will present the paper to conference attendees. 

In the paper, Gore points out that a robust digital backbone must have an equally robust interconnect architecture with performance margin to overcome signal degradation and reduce the total cost of ownership needed to make MOSA a reality. An interconnect architecture will be vital to maintain the highest-performing systems and execute the most demanding missions. 

“With the unpredictable global threat landscape, the defense ecosystem must be more forward-looking as they write specifications, especially for interconnects,” said Jeff Woods, Market Development-Americas, Aerospace & Defense, with Gore. “It means executing detailed modeling and digital systems engineering trades to ensure critical size, weight, power, reliability and performance metrics are factored in as vital pieces of the MOSA puzzle. MOSA success is more than the boxes and subsystems.”

PLEINFELD, Germany (April 18, 2023) — W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) announced today its new Cat8 ethernet cable for use in aerospace and defense platforms. The new Cat8 ethernet cable allows for four times the high-speed data transmission previously possible.

“It’s a major future-proof upgrade for all of our aerospace and defense customers,” said Jeremy Moore, product manager with Gore. “The new Cat8 ethernet cables offer four times the speed in a single cable, while reducing weight and providing a better solution for space constraints since you need fewer cables for the same speeds.”

GORE® Ethernet Cables are proven to transfer data and video reliably on modern avionics and vectronics digital networks. They meet Cat8 requirements for transferring signals up to four times the speed of Cat6A without compromising system robustness or adding weight.
